Sail Boat Information
Sail Boat Lucky Day
Ah sail boats. Aren't they beautiful? They glide on the water
with ease silently using only the wind. Talk about energy
efficient! Especially these days when you see the price of fuel
soaring higher then an eagle. I got an email from a friend the
other day who told me that someone had offered her a free
sail boat. She said
she could not believe her luck. It was not a large one mind you,
but it was large enough for her small family to enjoy a couple
of hours out on the water. She lives in Australia near
the south coast, and she has easy access to the water. Her
family loves to be out on the water actually which is fine with
her, and she said a sail boat was actually
something she was thinking of buying one day. When one fell into
her lap, she snapped it up as quickly as she could. I sure don't
blame her.
She said the sail boat was abandoned, and the person
who was left with it didn’t want it anyway, and wouldn’t accept any
money for it. Some people have all the luck. They looked it
over, and found that it really didn’t need any work at all. They
could start using it as soon as they wanted to. Though this is not
what you would call a traditional sail boat, there were some things they
had to learn. My friend Lisa and her husband were able to
take it out on the water a week after they got it, and she tells me
that they love having it, and it works like a dream. Yup some
people have all the luck I tell ya.
Sail Boat 101
If you are interested in a sailboat, but you don’t know
a lot about sailing or maybe just a little bit, this smaller boat
might be the type you want to get. It still works with the wind,
but you don’t have to learn any complicated sailing techniques to
enjoy a day out on the open water. You won’t want to go out into
open seas with it though, but you can have a lot of fun in calmer
waters. You probably won’t find a free one like my friend Lisa did,
but you can find them for a good low price if you look around for a
deal. I would check first on the internet to learn about the
different types of small sail boats.
Remember to use proper safety gear when you get a
sail boat. Even if
you think you know what you are doing, you can not control the
weather. Even the best weather can change when you are out on the
water. You have to learn to spot bad weather long before it comes
so that you can get to shore safely. If you take your children out
on a sailboat, you should also make sure they know what is
going on. You won’t expect them to sail on their own, but they
should have good safety information, and they should also know what
to do in the event they go over the side. It’s a scary thought, but
you should make sure they are prepared. Sailing is fun but being
aware and prepared is a must. Happy sailing!
