Commercial Diving Facts
Commercial Diving Information
What I tell people that my career is
commercial diving, a lot of them are dumbstruck. They don't know
whether to be impressed, confused,or incredulous. Nevertheless, I
love my commercial diving career in a lot of ways. You see, working
as a commercial diver is one of the last ways that you can make a
really good living using your hands. Commercial scuba diving is one
of the most lucrative careers available. A commercial diving
salary, depending how specialized your skill set, can be up to six
figures! This is unheard of in most related fields.
Of course, there are a few reasons for this. One of them is
simply the fact that there aren't enough commercial divers.
Commercial diving is a career idea that occurs to few people. Even
people who are involved in the marine trades don't usually consider
becoming a commercial diver. Unless you know someone who does it,
you probably won't be introduced to this job.
There is, however, a more serious reason why commercial diving
salaries are so good. You see, there is a lot of risk involved.
Whether you do search and rescue diving, underwater construction,
security and surveillance,or marine wildlife study, diving
commercial can be a pretty dangerous occupation.
Commercial Diving Tips
You can get the bends, can get bit by a
shark, can be crushed by falling construction supports ,or can be
the victim of marine equipment failure. Lets face it – commercial
diving is not for the faint of heart.
Nevertheless, there are more dangerous jobs that don't pay
nearly as much. If you have the passion for commercial diving, I
say go for it. The risks are high compared to most professions, but
they are not extraordinary. I have known hundreds of commercial
divers, and only one of them died on the job.
The great thing about going to commercial dive school is that
there are so many options available for a career. Because you are
constantly in demand, you can do basically anything that you want.
A lot of commercial diving experts even switch career midway
through. They might start off doing under water construction, learn
some new skills, and end up working for an underwater filming crew.
Some of them even make their living leading tours! If you are
interested in commercial diving, but want a safe way to make a
living, I highly recommend this career path. Besides shark attack,
there is almost nothing that can happen to you.
